Dan worked as a truck driver when his accident occurred. On the day of his injury, he needed to mount a truck on his employer’s property to secure a mini digger positioned for transport to another location. To check the security of the straps and chains holding the mini digger, Dan climbed onto the side of the truck’s body. Unfortunately, he fell to the ground and sustained serious personal injuries. He fell several feet and landed on his feet, crying out in pain as he realized he had seriously injured his right foot. Medical personnel believed that Dan would reach the hospital faster in a work van than in an ambulance. When he arrived at the hospital, doctors placed his foot in a cast and administered an injection for pain relief.
They diagnosed him with an acute painful injury to his right ankle, which left him unable to bear weight or move, necessitating surgery. As a result, Dan could not return to work, which had involved heavy machinery, lifting, and working on uneven ground. He also enjoyed hill walking but found himself unable to return to this activity. Currently, he can mobilize around the house without crutches but still experiences significant pain in his right ankle. Outside the house, he uses crutches to help him move. Dan is eager to return to some form of work but knows he cannot return to his pre-injury activity level.
