Kate was driving back home as the designated driver after attending a christening. She stopped at red traffic lights when another driver, operating a private coach bus, rear-ended her car at the lights. The impact pushed her car forward about 1-2 meters, totaling it. After the collision, the other driver exited his vehicle and questioned Kate about why she had stopped at the lights, claiming they were only the lights for the LUAS tram, which was not true.
Immediately after the accident, Kate felt shocked and struggled to speak, remaining in her car for a few minutes. Her husband exited the car to confront the other driver and noted that the driver was shouting. After a short while, Kate began to feel okay and did not require an ambulance. That night, Kate struggled to sleep. The next day, she went to work, but a headache developed on the left side of her head where it had hit the headrest during the impact, along with pain in her shoulder.
She then visited her General Practitioner, who confirmed that she had not suffered from headaches before the accident and that now she couldn’t relax. Since the accident, she has become an extremely anxious driver and passenger. Her ability to drive has significantly declined; she used to drive confidently, even internationally. As a result of the accident, she suffers from sharp headaches, shoulder pain, and anxiety.
Partner Caoimhe McConnell resolved the case within the Personal Injuries Resolutions Board (PIRB), leading to a successful conclusion.
The case settled on the 15th of July 2025 for the sum of €18,955. This result was excellent for our client, and we are proud of all the work Caoimhe McConnell and her team put in to achieve this brilliant outcome.
