Road Traffic Accident.

Injury: upper limbs, shoulders and spine.

Case Settlement the sum of €15,000

 Settled by:  Partner Caoimhe McConnell.

Settled on: 2nd of July 2025.

Case Summary Incident

Mike drove his car in the left-hand lane when a large commercial vehicle unexpectedly struck the driver’s side with considerable force. The impact caused his car to spin, leaving him visibly shaken and distressed. At the time of the incident, Mike wore his seatbelt. The collision damaged the front driver’s side panel and mirror, and the sudden crash prompted him to instinctively brace himself with both arms against the steering wheel. This bracing action transmitted force through his upper limbs, shoulders, and spine.

Immediate Medical Attention

Immediately after the incident, Mike attended an out-of-hours clinic, where he reported soft tissue injuries. He later sought further assessment from his GP after experiencing increasing pain and stiffness.

Symptoms and Clinical Findings

He complained of discomfort and soreness across his upper back, between the shoulder blades, and in the right shoulder and neck area. A clinical examination revealed a reduced range of motion in both shoulders, particularly on the left side, where abduction was limited. Additionally, all ranges of movement showed significant restrictions.

Progression of Symptoms

Over time, Mike began to experience progressive stiffness, persistent pain, and neurological symptoms such as numbness and tingling. These symptoms severely impacted his routine physical activities; he struggled to lift his young child, affecting his daily life and emotional well-being.

Treatment Challenges

Due to financial difficulties, he could not access the recommended physiotherapy treatment. Instead, he used self-massage techniques and at-home devices to manage his ongoing symptoms.

Case Progression

Partner Caoimhe McConnell instigated court proceedings, successfully concluding the case.

Case Settlement

The case settled on the 2nd of July 2025 for the sum of €15,000. This result greatly benefited our client, and we are proud of the work Caoimhe McConnell and her team put in to achieve this brilliant outcome.
